Salman Khan Arrives in Court to Attend Hearing in Hit-and-Run Case

                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Mumbai:  Actor Salman Khan has arrived at the Mumbai Sessions Court to attend a hearing in the 2002 hit-and-run case allegedly involving him.

One person was killed and four were injured in the accident when the actor's car allegedly ran over a group of people in suburban Bandra.

Earlier this month, three eyewitnesses had testified before the court and identified the actor.

Mr Khan, 47, was present for the hearing held on May 6, during which one of the survivors claimed that the actor was so drunk on the night of the accident that he fell down, then got up and ran away from the accident site.

The witness, who was injured in the accident, had claimed that he saw Mr Khan getting out from the right side of the Toyota Land Cruiser; the actor's lawyers have argued for nearly a decade that he was not at the wheel.

One of the witnesses had complained to the police that she had received a threatening call in connection to the case. The court had scheduled the issue for the next hearing.

In December, a Mumbai court ordered a fresh trial for Mr Khan, who is accused now of culpable homicide in the hit-and-run case and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

He originally faced lesser charges of rash and negligent driving.

It was another day for Salman Khan away from the studios. The actor made an appearance in the City Civil Session court this morning in connection with the 2002 accident case.

In what could be seen as more trouble for the actor, a steward, working in a bar of a five star hotel identified the superstar in the court. He told the court that Salman along with a group of friends had visited the bar a few hours before the accident involving the superstar had occurred on Hill Road, Bandra on the night of September 28, 2002. 

The witness claimed that he had served Bacardi and cocktails to the group that had come with Salman on the accident night 12 years ago. However the waiter said he did not remember whether the actor had consumed drinks. The witness further added it would be difficult for him to say whether everyone in the group had consumed alcoholic drinks.

The star managed to hoodwink the waiting cameras at the main gate of the court as he entered from the back gate. The court hearing went on for a good hour-and-a half after which the court was adjourned till tomorrow.

Salman was accompanied by his sisters Alvira Agnihotri and Arpita Khan. His manager Reshma Shetty, his friend Pippy aka Prashant and his loyal bodyguard Shera were also seen accompanying him. In fact, Pippy and Shera stood right outside the witness box in which Salman stood.

Dressed in a dark blue jeans and a light blue denim shirt, with his hair neatly pulled back, the star looked visibly bored with chips down.

It was terribly hot inside in the courtroom, packed with perspiring attendees. Battling the heat, people could be seen wiping sweat trickling down their forehead. Salman was lucky as he had a ceiling fan, right above the witness box which he occupied for the
one-and-a-half hour of his duration in the courtroom today.

The gathered photographers could not get any pictures of Salman Khan even when he left the court premises as he was not seated in the front, next to his driver as he is usually. His friend Pippy sat in the front and Salman sat behind. Both the car windows of the back seat were shielded with a light gauze, which made it impossible for flashbulbs to photograph him.

One person was killed and four others were injured when Salman had allegedly rammed his car into a bakery shop on September 28, 2002.

Six witnesses have so far deposed in the re-trial, which would continue.

'Shuddhi' now goes to Salman Khan?

Salman Khan-John Abraham lock horns over a film on Gama Pehelwan

Two films on the famous wrestler, Gama Pehelwan, are on their way as Bollywood stars Salman Khan and John Abraham are producing two separate projects on this single individual. While Garv director Puneet Issar will be holding the camera for Salman’s production, Parmeet Sethi has been asked to helm the film by Abraham.

Both parties have claimed that none of them had any idea about the other’s plans. As told by Issar, "I have been working on the subject for five years. I registered the script in 2011 with the Film Writers Association. Even the titles Gama, The Great Gama, Rustam-e-Gama, Pehelwan and Great Gama are with us." On the contrary, John's producer partner Sheel Kumar also claimed that they have registered some titles too for their film.

Parmeet expressed his shock over learning that Salman is also making a film on the same person, "I have been working on the subject for three years and the film will soon go on the floors. The titles that we have registered are The Great Gama and Rustam-e-Hind Gama. I don't understand how two producers can register the same title." In his home production John will play the title role while Sallu’s film will have his brother Sohail Khan as the lead protagonist. As told by Puneet, "Salman suggested Sohail's name and he has been getting in shape for the last one year. We even have the support of the All India Wrestling Federation. We will be shooting in Patiala."

Clash of release date is common in Bollywood, but this time the "idea of the film" has become the common string between Salman Khan and John Abraham.

According to reports both Salman and John have stuck their eyes on wrestler Gama Pehalwan as their subject for the next film which they will be producing.

Puneet Issar, who had directed Sallu in the film 'Garv', will be directing the actor's production. Meanwhile, John has asked Parmeet Sethi to direct his film. 

Making it more interesting, both parties have claimed that they were unaware of each other's projects. Gama Pehelwan was one of the greatest wrestler of his time and so both the Bollywood's most fittest actors Salman and John are eager to make movie on him.

Salman and John have stuck their eyes on wrestler Gama Pehalwan as their subject for the next film which they will be producing.

John will play Gama's role in his home production while Sohail Khan will play the lead in Salman's film.

Salman and John had fallout after the 'Rockstar' stage shows in 2006. The two made up when John made an appearance on Khan's TV show, 'Bigg Boss', in 2011 while promoting his film 'Desi Boyz'.

The most recent development in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan, has had three witnesses identify the actor as the culprit, reports claim.

And Bollywood is in a tizzy because if Salman is taken into custody, then it could mean huge losses for the movies already announced, home productions and endorsements starring the actor.

Salman Khan's hit-and-run case spells doom not only for him but for Bollywood too.

The actor was, in fact, recently reported to have skipped voting in order to complete Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick, slated to release on Eid. Other than Kick, Salman's reportedly also involved in projects like Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Anees Bazmee's No Entry Mein Entry among other big projects.

A break down of the Rs-500-crore figure reveals an amount of upto Rs.350 crore in acting assigments, andRs.50 crore in endorsements, all of which could possibly turn into losses soon.

Of the projects already mentioned, Salman is reportedly even involved in the production side of things in Kabir Khan's next, and a remake of Hero starring Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.

On the night of September 28, 2002, Salman’s Toyota Land Cruiser allegedly ran over five people sleeping on the footpath outside American Express Bakery on Hill Road in Bandra, killing one and injuring four others. Witnesses have alleged that the Judwaa actor was driving the vehicle, but the actor has denied these charge. It was being said that the actor was drunk and after the tests, almost 65mg alcohol was found in his blood on the night of accident. It has been 12 years since, and today this mistake seems to endanger his future as an actor.
