Salman Khan’s 2002 hit-and-run case retrial begins today. Earlier the court had deferred the hearing earlier this month for April 28, 2014 after time was sought by the prosecution due to election duty. After three witnesses didn’t turn up for the second time failing to set start the fresh trial. The Sessions court judge D W Deshpande asked that the first witness be presented before the court today, while the eye witness will make an appearance in the next month.

Salman is being tried for a hit-and-run for killing one and injuring four others, after his Toyota Land Cruiser ran over people sleeping on a footpath outside a bakery in Bandra on September 28, 2002. With the Bollywood star busy shooting for Sajid Nadiawala’s directorial debut Kick in Poland we wonder if the fresh trial will finally 

Salman Khan Kick stunt causes panic in Poland

A stunt for Salman Khan's Kick caused locals to contact Polish police in a panic.

According to the Daily Mail, locals saw a London double-decker bus drive off Warsaw's Gdanski Bridge and plunge into the Vistula River below, not realising that it was a stunt staged for the movie.

One onlooker said: "I saw the bus on top of the bridge and wondered what a London Bus was doing in the middle of Warsaw

"It didn't move at first but then it started up, and then just drove off and fell into the river. I was completely shocked and had no idea it was part of a film."

The incident was staged as part of a car chase and saw the bridge closed off at a cost of £15,000. 

Production company spokesman Krzysztof Solek from Film Polska Productions said the price of closing the bridge had helped them beat off competition from London and Dublin to stage the scenes in Warsaw.

While police were able to alleviate public concerns, others complained about the inconvenience and the cost of closing the bridge. 

One resident said: "They only paid £15,000 to close the bridge off, but how much was lost by people being late for work because of the diversion?"

Angry locals have set up a Facebook group to try to raise an equal amount of money to hold a mass barbecue on the bridge.

The film is directed by Sajid Nadiadwala and stars Khan. 

The actor was earlier mobbed by fans while filming in Warsaw.

Salman Khan: More and more Bollywood producers should opt for Poland

Khan flew here to shoot his upcoming film “Kick”. Impressed with the scenic locales, he said he would like to come here to unwind and also hoped that Indian filmmakers will explore the facilities that the country offers.

“Had the British authorities not refused me the necessary visa, the original shooting would have been done in London,” Salman told IANS.

“But I am happy that I have come to Warsaw to finish the film. Poland on the whole is a very beautiful country and the city of Warsaw is a place of my dreams.

“I wish more and more Bollywood producers would opt for the country (to shoot films) as all the technical facilities are there. What else can one desire for! Polish people are very understanding and friendly. I would love to come again and again even to chill out from my heavy commitments,” added the 48-year-old.

“Kick”, Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut, is being shot here and the superstar sounds positive about the film and feels it has the potential to cross the Rs.100 crore mark when it releases July 27.

Even Nadiadwala is satisfied with his decision to shoot here.

Our local partner Film Polska did a commendable job and they entertained our each and every demand. Our experience is simply great,” Nadiadwala said while addressing the international media.

The credit goes to M.R. Shahjahan, executive producer of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd, for suggesting Warsaw as an alternative shooting destination for “Kick”.

He experienced the perks of shooting in Poland while making his own film “Aazaan”.

“After initial hesitation Sajid agreed and we are going to add another chapter to Indo-Polish film cooperation,” Shahjahan told IANS.

In 2006, Yash Raj Films also canned the climax of “Fanna” and at that time Aamir Khan, Kajol and Suniel Shetty had come to shoot in the Tatra mountains as they wanted to create a war-like Kashmir situation.

Monika Kapil Mohta, Indian ambassador to Poland, said: “For the past three years or ever since I have come to Poland, I have been pleading with Bollywood producers to do something here. Finally, Nadiadwala has obliged us and this will be one of the biggest achievements of my term.”

She tagged Salman and Randeep Hooda as the “cultural ambassadors in the global affairs”.

“Bollywood has become an important tool to project India as a soft power. Polish youth watch you with admiration. Your films have created a new excitement about India. We hope your word of mouth will also create more understanding and curiosity about Poland in Bollywood circles,” she added.

The ambassador also praised the role of the Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI) for creating a proper forum to lure Bollywood producers.

IPCCI is hopeful that in the coming year some five to six film units will be shooting in Poland.

Salman Khan Praises Poland; “Warsaw Is A Place Of My Dreams”

Salman Khan who is currently shooting in Warsaw for Sajid Nadiadwala‘s Kick is extremely happy with the way things are going on in Poland.

Earlier Salman Khan had been denied visa by the British authorities and  the original shooting which was to happen in London got cancelled and the movie shoot was then shifted to Warsaw in Poland .

Salman’s never far from his crazy fans

Salman Khan is no stranger to crazy fans but he makes sure they are treated well, no matter the situation. The actor is currently shooting for his film Kick in Poland. No one really expected to see a massive number of Salman followers in Poland but they were in for a surprise.

A source from the sets tells us, “During a particular action sequence which Salman was shooting for, an over excited fan came running towards him. In the chaos and enthusiasm, she happened to trip and fall flat on her face, injuring herself. Salman saw this and was worried for her. He took some time off from the schedule and personally arranged for her treatment and later even posed for pictures with her. For the fan of course, her day was made, even though she injured herself in the bargain.”

Even director Sajid Nadiadwala had no idea that Salman would have such a fan following in Poland. The source adds, “He was heard telling people that he had expected the shoot to progress smoothly but Salman’s fans seem to land up everywhere. He already had a tough time dealing with fans during their Delhi schedule. So he was hoping that things would be better in Poland. But he is quite hassled by the chaos fans have been creating and can’t wait to wrap up the shoot.”

Salman Khan fittest of all actors, online poll

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan defeated stars like Hrithik Roshan and Arjun Rampal to grab the first position as India's fittest actor in an online poll.

The poll was conducted by TheHealthSite.com, a health and wellness site, where more than 30,000 people voted for their favourite stars.

Salman and Hrithik's fan following on social media ensured that they received the maximum number of votes defeating other fit actors, said a statement.

Salman received 43.36 percent votes while Hrithik got 42.81 percent votes.

Vidyut Jamwal, Arjun Rampal and Shahid Kapoor grabbed third, fourth and fifth place respectively with 3.35 percent, 1.92 percent and 1.74 percent of the votes respectively.

People of Mumbai are out on the street to vote. Many Bollywood actors were also spotted at various polling booths. The list includes Aamir Khan, Dia Mirza, Vidya Balan and John Abraham. Some were spotted early in the morning, while many came in the afternoon to cast their vote.

However, there are a few celebrities who chose their work over vote. Many Bollywood celebrities including Sonakshi Sinha, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Malika Arora Khan are in Florida to attend IIFA. Other actors like Salman Khan and Randeep Hooda are busy in shooting of their film.
