‘Bigg Boss’: I don't know if I can pull it off like Salman, says Ajay Devgn

 

  

 

 

Mumbai: Bollywood heavyweight Salman Khan, who hosted four consecutive seasons of ‘Bigg Boss’ may no longer be a part of the show. If the latest buzz is anything to go by, then the hunk of an actor may not host the eighth season of the super-hit yet controversial programme.

Speculations were rife that superstar in the making- Ranbir Kapoor- was approached to play the host of ‘Bigg Boss’ season 8. But according to the latest reports, Ajay Devgn is believed to have been considered by the makers of the show.

However, Ajay maintained tight-lipped about the speculation and instead gave a diplomatic answer.

“I really don`t know. I cannot comment on that - may be I will or may be not. I am not sure,” IANS quoted the actor as saying.
"Salman does it so well... he is watchable. I don`t know if I can pull it off like Salman. I have not seen all the episodes, but a little bit here and there," Ajay added.

Ajay and Salman have shared screen space in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘London Dreams’. Salman had even played a cameo in Ajay’s ‘Son of Sardar’.They have been thick friends for long and don’t believe in any sort of professional competition between them.

"I don`t believe that rivals cannot be friends. All of us are friends, most of us at least. Salman, Sanjay Dutt, and me are very close. Earlier, we used to meet on each other`s sets. Now it`s become more professional, but we have a great rapport. Whenever we need each other, we stand for each other," he added.

Ajay may not have commented on his association with ‘Bigg Boss’, but would you like to see him play the host?

New Delhi: Following in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty, Salman Khan is said to be mulling to join the league of IPL team owners. The 48-year-old actor, who came to flag off the Little Heart Marathon - organised by Ness Wadia, was reportedly seen in deep conversation with the latter regarding the IPL.

According to a tabloid, the `Dabangg` actor has lately been inquisitive about the IPL tournament and is also said to be considering to own a stake in an Indian Premier League team.

"Salman was the chief guest at this marathon that was organised by BJ Wadia hospital for underprivileged children. Post the flag off, Salman was seen talking to Ness. The two were discussing the IPL in great detail," a source said.

However, it is also said that Khan has often shown interest in the tournament owing to his love for cricket.

"There is no clear indication that he will pick up a stake in an IPL team his interest in it has only grown with time. He has been making enquiries with Ness. In fact, he has also been asking his other friends about the same. The actor is trying to work out how he can get a piece of the IPL pie as he loves cricket and has a lot of cricketer friends," an onlooker said.

Well, it wouldn`t come as a surprise to us if Salman shifts his focus from movies to try his luck in IPL.

Mumbai: Salman Khan promoted his dear friend Aamir Khan’s film ‘Dhoom 3’ on his show ‘Bigg Boss’ season 7 last year. The ‘Dabangg’ superstar sported the hat used by Aamir in the film and even sang the signature song of the ‘Dhoom’ series to boost publicity.

And now, the actor, who is often known to be extremely helpful, tweeted about a Marathi film titled ‘Yellow’ which comes from the makers of popular film ‘Balak Palak’.




Produced by Riteish Deshmukh and Uttung Hitendra Thakur ‘Yellow’ is directed by Mahesh Limaye. The film features Mrinal Kulkarni, Upendra Limaye, Rishikesh Joshi, Manoj Joshi, Aishwarya Narkar, Usha Nadkarni, Shikhar Hitendra Thakur, Pravin Tarde, Sagar Talashikar, Gauri Gadgil and Sanjana Rai.

This is how the makers describe the film- ‘Yellow’ is an attempt to answer the often asked question `What happens to my child after me?

The official Facebook page of the film states that Salman was apparently mighty impressed with the way the makers dealt with such a sensitive subject that deals with special children.

Sonakshi Sinha clears the air about tiff with Salman Khan

Mumbai: As rumours were doing the rounds of Sonakshi Sinha`s recent fall out with the Khan brothers- Salman and Arbaaz - the actress on Monday evening dismissed all speculations and affirmed that nothing went astray between them.
Reportedly Salman was miffed with Sonakshi for rejecting two of his upcoming movies - ‘Dolly ki Doli’ and ‘Kick, which later on went to Sonam Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandes respectively. And it was believed that things were not quite good between them.

However Sonakshi tweeted about the cordial relations between her and Salman Khan thereby clearing the air.

Sonakshi, who shot to fame with `Dabangg` starring opposite Salman Khan, her mentor, went on to deliver hits like `Rowdy Rathore`, `Dabangg-2`, `R...Rajkumar` etc. She is now one of the most sought after actresses in the Tinsel Town.

Salman Khan's fresh trial in hit-and-run case from March 26

Mumbai: A Mumbai sessions court has fixed March 26 as the date for the fresh trial of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the hit-and-run case here Tuesday.

The ruling came at a hearing of the case Tuesday when the prosecution submitted a list of 17 witnesses who will be examined and cross-examined again.

Last year, July 24, the sessions court framed charges against Salman for the more serious charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which entails a 10-year prison term.

Earlier, the 48-year-old actor was tried for the less stringent charge of rash and negligent driving, which attracts a two-year sentence.

Later, in November 2013 Salman moved the sessions court seeking a fresh trial in the case since the magistrate`s court had not given him an opportunity to cross-examine witnesses in the context of the new charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Salman was previously charged and tried by a Bandra magistrate`s court under the Indian Penal Code Section 304(A) (rash and negligent driving).

After nearly 10 years, the magistrate had held that a case under IPC 304 (2) was made out against Salman and sent the case to a sessions court for trial, which he challenged.

Besides IPC Section 304(2), Salman also faces charges of causing death by negligence, causing hurt by an act, causing grievous hurt and damage or mischief to property, and charges under the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bombay Prohibition Act.

On Sep 28, 2002, an allegedly inebriated Salman Khan, while driving his Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, ran over some pavement dwellers near a bakery in Bandra (West). While one person was killed, four others were injured in the incident.

The original trial started in September 2005 in the Bandra magistrate court. Nearly four years after the accident, on Oct 6, 2006, the magistrate`s court had framed 10 charges against the actor.

Kapil Sibal is amazing, Rahman average: Salman Khan on 'Raunaq'

: Superstar Salman Khan, who unveiled Academy-award winning musician A R Rahman's new album 'Raunaq' here, today gave full marks to the lyrics penned by Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal for the musical composition.

'Raunaq' is a unique collaboration between the legendary musician and the Central minister, who wrote all the songs for the album.

"It is a great pleasure to be here for this launch. The songs are nice. I think Kapil sir is amazing and Rahman is average," Salman said with a chuckle.

The album has more than seven songs and are sung by best of artists in the industry including Lata Mangeshkar and Shreya Ghoshal among others.

Speaking at the launch, Salman said there is one thing common between him and Rahman, which is 'Jai Ho', the title of his latest release.

'Jai Ho' is also the most popular track from Rahman's Oscar-winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. On working with the Bollywood superstar, Rahman said,

"We did work together on 'Yuvvraj'. He has to do films that I like. There has to be an extraordinary film for us to come together."

To which Salman said, "When you (A R Rahman) will work for us... Hope we work together."

Salman Khan calls AR Rahman 'average' at album launch with Kapil Sibal

It was an afternoon meant to launch a collaborative effort between Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman and Kapil Sibal Union Home Minister of Law and Justice and Communications and Information and Technology. The occasion was to launch a music album titled Raunaq in which Sibal has penned the lyrics while Rahman has scored the music.

The pre-lunch launch event started only after everybody had finished lunch. The album was officially launched at the hands of superstar Salman Khan who arrived at around 2.30 pm yesterday (27th February). When Salman was asked to speak at the event he said, "Aap sabhi ko toh maloom hai Rahman bade average hain. What is common between us is Jai Ho."

After naming the singers that Rahman has worked in the album, Salman asked Rahman, "Hamare saath kab kaam karogey?"   

It may be recalled that soon after his Slumdog Millionaire victory internationally which fetched him an Oscar, Rahman  had trademarked the title 'Jai Ho.' Rahman had even performed several concerts titled Jai Ho in various parts of the world. The song Jai Ho appears towards the end of the Danny Boyle's Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

Close to the release to his last film Jai Ho which had released on January 24, a controversy had erupted over the title of Salman's film's name. Reportedly Rahman's legal team had even sent a notice about the same to the film's producer Sohail Khan.

Perhaps it was that past altercation over the title name that prompted Salman to be little cheeky with AR Rahman on stage.  Now the question is who invited Salman to launch Raunaq - Sibal or Rahman?  Some light on that is needed now.
