Invitations were apparently also sent to megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.
The 84-year-old singer, however, wrote a letter to Modi apologising for her absence from the ceremony citing ill health.
“Despite getting your invitation I had to decline it with a heavy heart as my health did not permit me to attend the ceremony,” Lata said in a hand-written letter, which was posted by Modi on Twitter.
Wishing Modi for his new beginning, Lata said, “Narendra bhai, today the whole country is with you as you begin your new journey.”

Salman Khan Takes Away Shahrukh Khan Release Date...

Salman Khan

Both Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are the superstars of the Bollywood film industry and have a huge fan following in India. Both of them are Bollywood’s A-list actors and have been working in the film industry for more than 2 decades. In the initial years, when both actors were making their stand in the industry, they both shared a deep bond of friendship with each other. The friendship of Salman and Shahrukh was laudable and they co-operated with each other professionally. But with time, they soon drifted apart and ultimately became hostile to each other, if not rivals. Hence, clashes of movie release dates are nothing new to them, especially when both of them are always involved with one shooting or the other. Recently, Salman Khan decided to release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo on Diwali, which is believed to have taken away the date from Shahrukh Khan.
With big film stars like Shahrukh and Salman, release dates for their movies do matter a lot, especially when they release few films per year. In general, Shahrukh’s movie had always been released on Diwali, while Salman’s on Eid, but the year 2015 seems to be a different story altogether. Salman Khan seems to have taken away Shahrukh Khan’s release date for his movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which is scheduled to release on Diwali 2015. However, Salman fans are quite eager to check out the pairing of their favorite star with Sonam Kapoor.
Both the actors had not been on talking terms since 2008 but their conflict was limited to ignoring each other in various parties or not talking to each other in person. However, their antagonism seems to have reached new heights this time, because of the date clash, into the professional field as well. There has been an immense rise in competition in the film industry, especially in the recent years and people in Bollywood are trying to survive in every possible way.
Most people believe that Salman made his choice for Diwali 2015, particularly because Shahrukh Khan released his movie, Chennai Express, in Eid 2013. This is not only creating rifts between them but also adding fire to the enmity. Shahrukh’sChennai Express made magnanimous profits in the box office that crossed all records of Salman’s movies released on Eid.
It is also being said, that both Shahrukh Khan’s movie Raees and Salman’s home production movie will be released on Eid 2015 and now, Salman has officially stated, that his movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will be released on Diwali 2015.
The rivalry between Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan seemed to have come to an end last year when both of them reportedly hugged each other in an ‘Iftar’ party. However, the discord seems to have taken over the friendship, especially when Salman Khan has taken away Shahrukh Khan’s release date. With the increase in competition, each movie will try to extract as much revenue as possible, by releasing on such dates, when the strength of audience will be at its peak in the movie theatres. Nevertheless, whether the clash of release date was intentional or not, could not be confirmed as per the media reports.

Salman Khan planning a sports film?

A couple of months back, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan showed his keen interest to support and/or produce a film inspired by sports while unveiling the music of a sports-based film KHWAABB. And now it seems, Salman is all set to fulfill his desire!
We hear that our style bhai is planning to do a film based on sports, which probably will be directed by his good friend actor-director Puneet Issar. Puneet had directed Salman in 2004 film GARV - Pride And Honour.
The film will be written by Sanjeev Dutta, who penned for popular films like HEROPANTI, BARFI!, YAARIYAN, LIFE IN A METRO PAGE 3, KITES, in the past. "Yes, I just met Salman and he is planning to do a sports-based film." However, he refused to divulge anything further.
Well, if Salman is really contemplating the idea of doing a sports film, it would be a refreshing change and treat for his fans!

Salman Khan Is in Serious Trouble???

Khan

Salman Khan is a renowned and famous personality of the Bollywood film industry and is the son of Salim Khan. Salman Khan and his two brothers are all a part of the film industry and have carried on their father’s legacy successfully. Salman Khan has made immense contribution to the B-town through his unparalleled acting skills and he also has an impeccable record for charity contributions. However, in the year 2002, Salman Khan was charged with a ‘hit and run case’ when his car damaged a bakery and ran over 3 people. This case has landed Salman Khan in serious trouble, it seems.
All of the three victims, who were sleeping in the pavement at the time, were seriously injured, except one, who died on the spot. Salman Khan was arrested for rash driving and was charged with culpable homicide, but soon, the case was dropped. Later on, Khan was officially charged with culpable homicide in the year 2013, to which he had pleaded not guilty. The trial had begun around August 2013 and since then the case is still running in the court of law. Recently, that case has again come into the limelight due to the testimonies of several eye-witnesses. Most of them have categorically testified against the 48-year-old actor.
Salman Khan is considered to be in a serious trouble, especially when the witnesses have been able to identify him. The waiter who had served drinks to Salman and his friends on that night (when the incident took place in 2002), identified him being there, in a five star hotel. He recognized Salman and testified that the actor was present, along with his friends and even recalls serving them white rum and cocktails.
However, he is unable to remember whether the actor had actually consumed alcohol or not since there was not enough light in the establishment. It is believed that Salman’s brother, Sohail, was also there with him but had returned home much earlier. One of the 4 people who were injured, conveyed to the court, that his former lawyer (Mukesh Pandey) had offered him a bribe so that he would reverse his testimony with regard to the case.
Muslim Sheikh stated that he received a couple of phone calls, one of which was about the bribery amount, while he avoided receiving the other call. Later on, his former lawyer, Mr. Pandey said that Muslim Sheikh was lying and that he never offered him any amount of money whatsoever. Sheikh is the youngest eye-witness of the lot and was sixteen years of age when the mishap took place in the year of 2002. Since then, Sheikh has been staying in UP and comes to Mumbai only when the case is summoned.
Since 2002, the case is still on the grounds and does not seem to end. More so, the case seems to be intensifying each passing day. After being identified by the 4th witness, Salman Khan has really landed in serious trouble. The allegations of ‘threat calls’ and ‘bribery’ is adding more problems in the superstar’s kitty, while the case is unable to draw its required conclusion. The actor has his new movie, Kick, lined-up, which is scheduled to release in July 2014. The case trials seem to be definitely creating problems in Salman Khan’s personal life as well, as reported by the media.

Shahrukh Khan Salman Khan Rivalry: Dabangg Star Takes Over SRK's Favourite Release Date?

Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan

Doesn't look like the tense situation between Bollywood superstars and rivals Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan will get any better in the near future.
As per recent reports, the warring Khans seem to be invading each other's regular release date space for their future films.
Over the years, both SRK and Salman's films have enjoyed a monopoly of sorts during the two big Indian festive periods – Diwali and Eid respectively. Their films seem to be planned and released accordingly.
However, this trend was broken by SRK in 2013 when he decided to release his film Chennai Express during the Eid holidays.
Now, it looks like the warring Khans are battling for the right dates as, according to Bollywood Life, Salman Khan has picked Diwali 2015 as the time of release for his upcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo directed by Sooraj Barjatya.
"Now we wonder if SRK will bring in his movie 'Fan' around the same time to give tough competition to Salman Khan's film", states the BL report.
Fortunately however, the clash of dates will not be an issue in 2014. While SRK's next film, Happy New Year will be releasing around the Diwali season in October, Salman's upcoming movie, Kick, will hit theatres in July.

In the past, I wrote articles in a Hindi newspaper which were translated to Gujarati. Modi happened to read them. That is how our acquaintance began." Salim reveals that he had told Modi that there were far more renowned writers in Urdu who would be better qualified to launch his web site, but the latter insisted he do it. The prosecution on Tuesday examined the seventh witness in actor Salman Khan's alleged hit-and-run case. The witness claimed that on the day of the incident, when the actor allegedly rammed his vehicle into the pavement dwellers in Bandra, he looked normal and did not smell of alcohol. The court, meanwhile, informed the advocates that in all likelihood, it would like to complete recording the witnesses' evidence by July.
A 63-year-old Bandra resident, Francis Fernandes alias commander, who claimed he knew the actor since childhood, came before the court presided over by judge DW Deshpande to depose as a prosecution witness. "That day, I was asleep... I heard a big bang and immediately got up. By the time I could move of my house, I heard someone pleading for help. I got out of my house and saw Salman Khan surrounded by a huge mob near American Express. I also remember that one man had a rod. I went to the spot and snatched the rod away from him," claimed Fernandes.
Fernandes added that by the time he snatched away the rod, Salman had recognised him and had pleaded with him (Fernandes) to save him.
When the defence cross-examined Fernandes, he claimed that after he visited the spot, the mob which had surrounded the actor, was furious. "I thought the mob would hit Salman and, hence, I went ahead to save him. At that time, Salman was looking OK and did not smell of alcohol. I advised him to go to my place. Meanwhile, my wife managed to stop a moving car and asked Salman to enter and he got in," he claimed.
The court has now posted the matter to June 23, 24 and 25.

2002 hit-and-run case: Witness says Salman Khan wasn’t drunk as he didn’t smell of alcohol

The witness also said, “He (Salman Khan) looked normal and walked straight."The witness also said, “He (Salman Khan) looked normal and walked straight."

In a breather to actor Salman Khan, a witness on May 20 informed a local court that it appeared to him that the actor was not drunk at the relevant time after his car had rammed into a shop in suburban Bandra in 2002, killing one person and injuring four others who were sleeping outside.
Francis Fernandes (63), a neighbour of Salman, who stays near the site of the mishap, told sessions judge D W Deshpande that he had gone to the spot after hearing shouts of people and saw the actor surrounded by a mob armed with sticks and stones.
Fernandes said he knew Salman since his (the latter’s) childhood and stayed in the same area where the actor resided and also where the accident had taken place.
“Salman did not appear to be drunk as there was no smell of alcohol when I went near him. He looked normal and walked straight,” the witness said much to the relief of Salman, who was standing in the dock listening to the deposition.
Fernandes said this while replying to questions put by Salman’s lawyer Srikant Shivade during cross-examination.
The case of the prosecution is that the actor was drunk when he met with the accident. According to police, Salman had allegedly consumed a couple of drinks with friends at a bar in J W Marriot hotel at Juhu before he met with an accident on September 28, 2002, outside American Bakery.
“I got up on hearing the shouts of “Bachao Bachao” and went down to the place where people had gathered with sticks and stones. I went near Salman. On seeing me, he said ‘Commander mujhe bacha lijiye’(Commander save me from the people), “Fernandes told public prosecutor Jagannath Kenjralkar.
The witness said that he took Salman to the direction of his (actor’s) house. Fernandes said his wife asked the actor to sit in their car and go home. Salman then left for home in their car, the court was told.
Fernandes said he was successful in pulling out the actor from the scene of mishap and advised him to go home.
To another question, the witness said that the mob had become violent after the accident. After seeing the crowd armed with sticks and stones, I felt that Salman’s life was in danger. Police, however, had not arrived by that time and came after 10 to 15 minutes.
A clean shaven Salman, attired in a navy blue shirt and jeans, had come to the court along with his bodyguard and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita.

Did not smell any alcohol on Salman Khan, witness says
Salman Khan made his third appearance in court this month as the seventh witness in the case deposed.

MUMBAI: A witness who helped Salman Khan escape from "an angry mob" told the sessions court on Tuesday that the actor "looked okay" and he did not smell alcohol on him after he allegedly ran over at least five people sleeping on a pavement at Hill Road in 2002. Judge D W Deshpande adjourned proceedings to June 23, 24 and 25, due to the absence of the next witness. The court said it intended to complete recording the statements of all witnesses by July.

The actor made his third appearance in court this month as the seventh witness in the case deposed. Francis Fernandes, 63, who lived near the accident spot, said he knew Khan since childhood. Fernandes, who Khan reportedly calls 'commander', said on the night of September 28, 2002, at about 2.30am he woke up when he heard a big bang. "After minutes I heard (shouts of) bachao, bachao (save me, save me). I came out from the house. I saw that near the American Express Bakery, Khan was surrounded by a mob," Fernandes told the prosecution. He stated that the mob was angry and he sensed that Khan would be in danger. Fernandes told the court that as he pulled aside people, who were holding rods and stones, Khan recognized him and said, "Commander, save me."

"I separated him from the mob and took him towards A1 Bakery. I was with Salman for a few minutes. I did not smell alcohol on Salman. He was looking okay," Fernandes told defence advocate Srikant Shivde in his cross-examination. He said that he advised Khan to go to his house as the mob was still furious. "A car was passing and my wife stopped it, and told Salman to enter...," Fernandes said.

Fernandes also said there were 10-12 speed-breakers on the way to the bakery and laundry. He recollected that road repairs were under way near the bakery.

The court issued summons to Ram Pandey, owner of a dairy near the spot, as he did not appear on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the police told the court that they had recorded the statement of an injured witness, Muslim Shaikh, who alleged that his former lawyer had offered him a bribe to turn hostile in the case. Shaikh had also told the police that he had received a threat call. The court also told the police to investigate the matter and that it would not interfere.

The Bandra police said the lawyer's statement was also recorded.
